Any yogini will tell you that one’s feet are the foundation of a yoga practice. Providing the essential grounding, feet are typically sans socks during yoga classes to keep them securely on one’s mat; however, cold toes or a grimy loaner mat makes even the most dedicated yogini or Pilates practitioner think twice about removing her socks.

Backed by 10 years of toesock technology, in steps Injinji, innovator of the patented Performance Toesock™, with eco-friendly Yoga Toesocks, available in February ’09. The company offers two styles - the Yoga Toesock™ and the Toeless Yoga Toesock, both with slip- resistant soles featuring raised treads (made from eco-friendly components) for superior grip, control and balance.

“These toesocks are great for activities that require the freedom and flexibility of being barefoot, from yoga and Pilates to dance and gymnastics,” said Jan Kimbrell, VP of sales for Injinji. “Made with eco-friendly and naturally anti-bacterial NuBamboo™, they provide protection against unsanitary loaner mats and gym floors and keep cold feet warm and dry. Also, the anatomical design of the Yoga Toesock actually assists with proper foot alignment.”

Recommended by podiatrists and yoga instructors alike, the Yoga Toesock features Injinji’s patented five-toe construction with individual, seamless toe sleeves. The design aligns the bones of the feet for better posture, grip and balance, allowing one to move freely and naturally.  It also reduces moisture and friction between toes, and eliminates foot sweat and arch stress. A contoured heel pocket and arch support stretch to fit the shape of the foot without slipping or bunching.

The fun and fashionable Toeless Yoga Toesock keeps toes bare, making it a great for warming up, or for those who prefer to have their toes bare on the mat, yet want the protection and warmth of a sock.

The socks are also softer and three to four times more absorbent than those made with cotton, and contain Lycra to retain their shape, no matter how many Downward Dogs you do.

The Yoga Toesock comes in white, black, rust and moss for women and men. The fun Toe-Less Yoga is available in stripes in berry/charcoal, rust/chocolate and charcoal/black. Both styles are available in a mini-crew in sizes small, medium, large and extra-large. MSRP: $16.

Injinji is the maker of Performance Toesocks™ for sport, outdoor and casual use.
